Senior Project Manager (Highways)

Up to £39000 per year

The candidate will be part of a Birmingham based design team which supports a range of highway and traffic engineering projects for the Highway Agency (HA), Transport for London (TFL), Bedfordshire and Plymouth Transport and Highways maintenance contracts.

Considering the range of opportunities available, applicants are invited with technical expertise in any of the following areas:-

Safety improvement schemes - concept, preliminary and detailed design.
Highway maintenance design – resurfacing, traffic management, lining, drainage, safety fence and barrier design for trunk road or motorway network. Understanding of DMRB, TSRGD, Chapter 8, MCHW desirable.
Road safety audits
Accident analysis
Traffic modelling using Transyt/ TranED, VISSIM, FlowRound, AIMSUN (NG), PICADY and ARCADY
Traffic signal design
Requirements
This is predominately an office based position but the person may occasionally be required to carryout site surveys on high speed and local roads for the projects falling in their area of specialisation. The work may involve occasional travelling and working from offices situated in other parts of England.

Responsibilities

Responsible to technically lead and preparation of technically sound and innovative highway and traffic engineering design solutions for various maintenance schemes.
Provide technical support and mentoring to junior staff in their area of specialism.
Assist Project Manager in managing team, preparing project program and financial estimates.
Ensure client liaison for their projects and adopt an ‘integrated’ partnering approach while liaising with client.
The Individual

A degree/ HND in Civil/ Traffic Engineering discipline or suitable experience
A self-motivated individual with good organisation and communication skills.
Desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competence to enhance team capability.
An ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines. Customer service & Interaction: 1) Working within a team environment 2) Interacting with other teams as required 3) Client liaison
